EMDR Therapy California

EMDR therapy for trauma, anxiety, and PTSD. Certified therapist using bilateral stimulation to process difficult memories and reduce emotional triggers.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a proven therapeutic approach that helps your brain process traumatic memories and reduce their emotional intensity. When we experience trauma, memories can become "frozen in time," causing ongoing distress when triggered. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help both hemispheres of your brain communicate while accessing trauma memories, allowing natural healing to occur.

EMDR for Complex Trauma

Traditional EMDR focuses on specific traumatic events. My approach integrates EMDR with understanding of complex trauma, helping you:

  • Process patterns of relational trauma
  • Address developmental and attachment wounds
  • Work with multiple connected memories
  • Reduce overall emotional reactivity and triggers

How Bilateral Stimulation Works

I offer three types of bilateral stimulation to find what works best for you:

Visual Stimulation

  • Following moving objects on a screen
  • Alternating visual cues that engage both eyes

Auditory Stimulation

  • Alternating sounds from one ear to another
  • Rhythmic audio patterns that cross brain hemispheres

Tactile Stimulation

  • Hand buzzers that alternate activation
  • Bilateral tapping techniques
  • Physical movements that engage both sides of the body

In-Person & Virtual Virtual EMDR Sessions

EMDR can be effectively administered through secure online therapy sessions. I use specialized technology that allows for visual bilateral stimulation through your computer screen, making this powerful therapy accessible regardless of your distance from my office location, or your busy schedule.

What EMDR Can Help With

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Complex PTSD symptoms
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Depression and mood instability
  • Childhood trauma and abuse
  • Grief and loss
  • Phobias and fears
  • Addictive behaviors
  • OCD and compulsions

Discover More in the EMDR & IFS Universe

Do you feel stuck and struggle with symptoms that seem related to your past? Do you find yourself caught in patterns of anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties that feel familiar yet overwhelming? You're not alone, and healing is possible.

The Power of Integrative Therapy

When we combine approaches like EMDR and IFS, clients benefit from multiple pathways to healing. EMDR can process specific traumatic memories while IFS addresses the broader internal system affected by those experiences. This integrative approach recognizes that healing isn't one-size-fits-all—different aspects of your experience may respond better to different therapeutic tools. Together, these modalities offer both targeted trauma processing and comprehensive internal relationship healing, creating more complete and lasting recovery.
